About FTGRN

A global research network dedicated to leveraging financial transaction data for economic progress and social well-being.

Our Mission

The Financial Transactions "Big Data" Global Research Network is a non-profit, academic-public-private initiative that brings together international research departments, academic scholars, and researchers from government and international organizations.

Guided by the principle of "Data from People for The People," the network is dedicated to sharing knowledge, advancing research, and providing solutions beneficial to the economic community and society while upholding the highest standards for privacy and data protection.

FTGRN Mission

The Amsterdam Principles

After ongoing conversations between research directors across institutions on the idea of increasing cross-institutional collaboration, a pivotal meeting in Amsterdam brought together leaders from academia, industry, and corporate research to forge a shared vision. Through collaborative dialogue, we established these core principles that guide our mission to collectively amplify the societal impact of financial data research.

Public Good Focus

The network's primary mission centers on generating insights for societal benefit. All insights and results are made openly available.

Academic & Policy Relevance

Our research agenda is carefully crafted to maintain balance between academic rigor, policy-making relevance, and corporate usefulness.

Research Integrity

We uphold the highest standards of research integrity through mandatory pre-registration of research proposals.

Risk Management

Our approach to risk emphasizes proactive assessment rather than reactive measures, ensuring the integrity of our research outputs.

Governance Structure

The network operates under a governance structure designed to foster agility, efficiency, and collaboration.

Network Members

As an open research network, FTGRN welcomes researchers, economists, data scientists, and professionals from academia, government, and the private sector to participate in our collaborative initiatives. Network members have access to a rich ecosystem of knowledge sharing and professional development opportunities.

Participate in our activities: Join our regular webinars featuring cutting-edge research presentations, attend our annual conference bringing together leading experts in financial data analysis, collaborate on research projects through our open calls for proposals, and engage in working groups focused on specific research themes and methodological challenges.

Open calls for research: We regularly issue calls for proposals that solicit diverse research initiatives aligned with network priorities. This democratic approach ensures transparency in project selection while maintaining high standards of academic excellence and practical relevance, broadening the network's reach across institutional and geographical boundaries.

Data Access Notice: Network membership provides access to research collaboration opportunities, events, and publications. When proprietary data is utilized in research projects, access is facilitated through designated working groups in collaboration with qualified data engineers from participating institutions who maintain exclusive authorized access under strict confidentiality protocols.
